2017 Band Camp Letter and Schedule

Dear Stevenson University Marching Band Member:

It is with great pride that we welcome you to the 2017 season of the Stevenson University Marching Band. This year promises to be a very exciting endeavor for all involved!

This letter contains pertinent information regarding our upcoming August 17-23 band camp, permanent housing move in, and the band camp schedule. Below is a checklist of information:

1. Move-In – August 17/18, 2017 @ 9am

Please report to the Ratcliffe Activity Center on the Owings Mills campus to move in. Keys will be available from 9:00am until 11:00am in the Ratcliffe Activity Center. This will be your permanent housing for the year. Commuter students will not have housing and will need to travel to band camp on their own. All battery percussion students and students new to the SUMB will move in on Thursday, August 17th, and the rest of the band will move in on Friday, August 18th.

2. Final Payment and Required Forms

Students must have ALL financial obligations cleared. All on-campus students must have their housing contract and their health form completed prior to band camp. Please contact the Resident Life if you have questions: 443-334-2588.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN BAND CAMP AND ENROLL IN CLASSES IF ANY OF THESE ABOVE ITEMS ARE MISSING

3. Meals

All meals will be provided for resident students. Only lunch and dinner will be provided for commuter students. A late night snack will be provided for resident students only. Please contact Mr. Lortz concerning any dietary concerns, intolerances, or restrictions.

4. What do I need for Band Camp?

  • Instrument (If you have your own instrument please bring it to band camp).
  • Clothing – remember we will be outside…so please dress appropriately.
    • Wear lightweight and light color clothing – NO JEANS OR DRESSES
    • Athletic/Cross Training or Running Shoes – NO SANDALS OR FLIP FLOPS
    • Hat with Brim – 100% MANDATORY
  • 1” Binder with sheet protectors for music and marching band drill, and bring a pencil – 100% MANDATORY
  • Water in thermos or plastic bottles
  • Sun Block & Insect repellent if needed
  • Sunglasses if desired
  • Rain Gear and rainy day change of clothes

As a reminder, we have a website (http://marchingband.stevenson.edu/) and a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/StevensonBand) that will have all pertinent information regarding band camp and the season.

5. First Annual Marching Band Preview Show and Bar B-Q

On Wednesday, August 23, 2017 @ 7:30 pm we will be having our annual Marching Band Preview show in the Owings Mills Stadium, which will showcase what have learned during band camp. This will be followed by a Bar B-Q and party in the Caves Parking Lot. Please feel free to spread the word and attend.
