Terrell Smith of Gaithersburg, MD, is a graduate of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and is now pursuing his master’s degree in music education at the University of Maryland. He has enjoyed years of success as a music educator, adjudicator and clinician along the East Coast and also works as a music arranger, show designer and program coordinator for high school and college marching bands, and drum and bugle corps.
Over the course of his career, he has been on the instructional staff of several world- class drum and bugle corps including: The Cadets, Santa Clara Vanguard and Reading Buccaneers. Currently, he is the Assistant Director of Bands at Stevenson University, where he is also the Percussion Coordinator and Pep Band Director. In addition to his duties at Stevenson University, he is also and the Marching Percussion Coordinator at the University of Maryland. Terrell is the founding Director of the award winning Thunder Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps – Maryland’s only competitive DCI – SoundSport drum and bugle corps. He also maintains a private lesson studio, specializing in marching percussion, drum set and beginning brass. Before moving to Maryland, Terrell was the Director of Bands at Royal Palm Beach Community High School, in Palm Beach County, Florida. As the Director of Bands at Royal Palm, he taught classes in music appreciation, jazz, concert and marching band.
